The integration benefits of automation

The integration benefits of automation

Integration and configuration are two of the most critical aspects of general IT management in the modern era, especially given the rapid and persistent deployment of new technologies that has taken place among a wealth of organizations. When tools, software and equipment are not properly configured, the chances of enjoying optimal functionality are relatively low, and this is something many organizations have struggled with in the past.

In some instances, the use of automation software has helped to drive the accuracy and efficiency of integration efforts, as companies are moving the arduous tasks that often serve as origin points for improper configuration or a lack of interoperability. In the same vein, organizations should always consider using a professional service provider to ensure that the automation tools being deployed are properly implemented and configured for optimal returns on investment.

Case study in health care
HIMSS and the Clinical Data Interchange Standard Consortium recently released a joint statement regarding their combined efforts to strengthen interoperability throughout the health care sector. Medical firms have been among the most aggressively pursuant of advanced technological deployments, while all eyes have been on electronic health record systems interoperability given the quick rise in use across the industry.

According to the firms, new standards and technology, including automation, are being developed, researched and released to help companies eliminate data entry – especially when it is redundant – to become more efficient and less bogged down in interoperability issues.

"Our partnership with HIMSS is pivotal toward realizing the founding vision of CDISC to improve health care by connecting the worlds of patient care and research," CDISC VP of Strategic Alliances Bron Kisler affirmed in the statement. "This will increase the opportunity for clinicians and patients to participate in clinical research, thus expanding access to the most cutting-edge treatments."

Takeaways for other businesses
Automation software can positively impact interoperability, configuration and implementation in a variety of fashions, but maybe none more so than through the intelligence garnered by relevant reporting analytics solutions. With the more actionable and timely insights that accompany reporting analytics, decision-makers will be able to gauge whether systems will be compatible with prospective deployments, as well as gaining stronger knowledge of what needs to happen to make all software, equipment and processes work in orchestra toward more optimal operations.
