The evolution of content management automation

The evolution of content management automation

Information is the lifeblood of any organization and, considering the rapid spread of digitization across regions and sectors, the average business is reliant upon the optimization of data governance to survive. Markets are evolving and consumers are becoming more Internet-driven with the passing of each year, forcing companies to react by finding ways to smooth out their decision-making procedures and reduce strain in the information management arena.

One would be hard-pressed to find an organization that is not currently using some form of content management system to accomplish these objectives, and many are already beginning to step into more advanced categories of utilization in this regard. With automation software, firms can take content management performance to the next level, both within and outside the system, as the tools streamline a wealth of functions tied to governance.

The modern approach
CIO Insight recently listed some of the key ways in which organizations are working to maximize the functionality of their content management systems, affirming that cloud and virtualization have become more common tools in the average corporate shed. When content management is in the cloud, the opportunities to automate, optimize and make information available in a wider breadth of locations tend to expand dramatically, leading to stronger performances.

Perhaps what was more telling in the piece was the demands of business leaders regarding further fortifications to their systems, with more than half of respondents to an incorporated survey stating that they need to find more ways to organize information efficiently. Automated content management can help to achieve this objective in stride, streamlining access across a breadth of platforms, devices and environments to drive productivity in the right direction.

According to the news provider, 42 percent of the respondents stated that they are seeing setbacks from a lack of cohesion among processes and systems, with poor centralization being the core issue.

Where automation comes in
After a firm effectively establishes sound policies to govern the ebb and flow of data, the use of automation tools within content management systems can help to centralize, optimize and streamline oversight procedures. Not only will this approach help to reduce the amount of errors and inefficiencies that sprout up throughout the information governance strategy, they it also work to bolster engagement among employees as data will be more accessible and manual entry will not be necessary.
