All Star offers the following network
client fax solutions: Users access the easy-to-use Send screen
directly from the FaxCom Client toolbar. Or they can choose the Biscom
Fax Printer to "print" any Windows application document as a
fax. Windows users are then automatically transferred to the Send screen
with the document they were editing automatically converted to a TIFF
file. Users can then click the Add to List button to be returned to the
application from which they called the Biscom Fax Printer, or they can
open a file in another application, enabling them to build one composite
fax with multiple attachments. Another powerful feature of FaxCom for
Windows is the Shared Mailbox function, which can be an important component
of a company's workflow implementation. The Shared Mailbox function enables
multiple users to have access to the received faxes in a shared mailbox.
For example, if your company received faxed requests for product information,
you could set up a Shared Mailbox named "Requests," designate
the mailbox as shared and let multiple users service the incoming requests.
Fax service administrators will also
appreciate the tight integration with the Windows operating system. For
example, during the installation of FaxCom for Windows, administrators
can easily import networked Windows users to be fax service users. FaxCom
for Windows creates a list of users from the specified domain from which
to automatically populate the fax service user list. FaxCom for Netware FaxCom for NDS is an NDS-enabled fax
solution that provides complete fax management capabilities to users in
your Novell Directory Services (NDS) database. FaxCom for NDS includes
the FaxCom Client for Windows-based users, the Web Client for Web browser-based
users and full support for GroupWise Mail users. Because FaxCom for NDS is so tightly
integrated with Novell Directory Services (NDS), managing fax service
users and fax queues is as easy as managing any other component of your
network. Using ConsoleOne/ NWAdmin, you can create fax queues anywhere
within the NDS tree. You then assign individual users to fax queues by
selecting the appropriate rule from the drop-down list, selecting the
specific conditional and selecting the fax queue. It's that simple. To support GroupWise clients, you perform
some additional steps in ConsoleOne/ NWAdmin to create the fax gateway
object for each GroupWise domain to be connected to fax. Within ConsoleOne/
NWAdmin, you then set up the FaxCom Agent for GroupWise domains to connect
a GroupWise domain to fax queues. To automatically route incoming faxes to users - whether FaxCom Client users, Web Client users, or GroupWise users - within ConsoleOne/ NWAdmin, you select the User object, access the user's Identification page and enter the user's incoming fax number in the Fax number field. You can also route faxes to groups of users, GroupWise External Entities, printers, and Shared Fax Folders to which multiple users are given access. FaxCom for NDS even includes a utility that lets you view users according to their fax number and vice versa (view fax numbers according to users). Using this utility, you can then assign a range of fax numbers to a range of users. FaxCom for Web To access fax capabilities, users simply
type in the address of the Web Client, such as http://faxcom.biscom.com,
log in and are authenticated to use the service. Once authenticated, they
can navigate between fax pages and do the following:
Another advantage of the FaxCom Web Client is the capability to install the FaxCom Web Client on an existing IIS server on your network; it is not necessary to dedicate an IIS server to the Web Client function. FaxCom for Active Directory |
